Alex Meadows is a 2 time Pan-Am No Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion (2010 & 2011) as well as the 2010 absolute World Champion. He was the first person to receive a Black Belt under Marcelo Garcia, a 5 time World Champion and 4 time ADCC Champion.
Alex was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he started practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1991 under the legendary Ricardo De la Riva and continued his training under Marcelo Garcia. In 2004 Alex moved to Memphis and joined the Memphis Judo and Jiu-Jitsu team and in 2006 he affiliated Memphis Judo & Jitsu with the Marcelo Garcia Academy. We are currently 1 of 4 prestigious gyms to be affiliated with the great Marcelo Garcia. Alex continues his training with Marcelo extensively in New York to bring the best instruction and knowledge back to Memphis.
Alex uses his passion and love for BJJ to instruct the best classes for his students. From fundamentals to advanced classes in both Gi and No Gi, his dedication to the sport makes each class exciting and motivating. Alex competes and excels every year at the highest levels of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition and is excited to share with you his passion and love for the art.
