David Ferguson, a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has been practicing the art since 1996. As an instructor David has had the unique opportunity to teach seminars all over the United States and Europe. In the summer of 2002 David was recruited by the legendary Royce Gracie to embark upon a 6 month stay in Copenhagen, Denmark where David taught BJJ and Submission Wrestling at Mikenta Muay Thai gym. In addition to his BJJ training, David has trained extensively in Muay Thai Kickboxing and Wrestling and has been featured in numerous local, national and international martial arts and sports publications.


David opened Memphis Judo & Jiu-Jitsu inside Memphis Martial Arts Center on October 20th, 2003 and moved the school to Bartlett in February 2007. The school was moved again to accommodate growth in 2011 to it’s current 24,000 sq. ft. location near Wolfchase Gallaria.


David opened his second location on May 15, 2013 in Midtown Memphis…..Memphis Fitness Kickboxing, as well as numerous other Fitness Kickboxing facilities since 2016.


David previously was the Ground Defensive Tactics instructor with the Memphis Police Department training all new MPD recruits as well as the Memphis Police T.A.C.T. Unit (SWAT team) in ground tactics, techniques, control and detainment.


David has been the matchmaker and event coordinator for Empire Fighting Championships, Strikeforce as well as Prize Fight Promotions.  David is also a ABC licensed referee and judge in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas.  He has refereed and judged many different events such as The Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC), Bellator Fighting Championships, Legacy Fighting Championships and Strikeforce.


In 2014, David was honored by The Memphis Business Journal with the “40 under 40″. This award is bestowed upon the top 40 business professionals and entrepreneurs under the age of 40 in Memphis and the Mid-South. In 2015, Dave was awarded the Department of Defense Patriot Award given to exceptional employers of active National Guard and Reserve soldiers.  In 2019, Dave was named to the Cooper-Young Business Association Board of Directors for Midtown Memphis.


As a competitor, David Ferguson has racked up numerous titles in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition, Submission Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts (No Holds Barred).
