Nathan Pang

2011 No Gi Pan-Am Champion (held in New York, New York)

Nathan Pang began his martial arts career in 2001 with a basic college course. After discovering a love for the competition, camaraderie and physical fitness that martial arts provide, he searched for new adventures after graduation. Back in Memphis, Nathan studied Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for mixed martial arts competition. Over time Nathan had to cut back on training while working in a corporate job.

Corporate life left Nathan feeling unfulfilled and underutilized. A career change was necessary.

In 2005, Nathan began a career path in Education, training to become a high school history teacher. After making this career change Nathan found that there was even less time for training than before. Due to this, he chose to focus his training on Submission Wrestling, his original love. After discovering Memphis Judo and Jiu-Jitsu around the corner from his house, he knew he had found a home.

Currently Nathan has blended his two great loves of teaching and martial arts as an instructor at Memphis Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. He teaches both Submission Wrestling and MMA classes, using his experience to improve the efficiency and technique of our athletes.

Other than training, Nathan is most passionate about teaching the children’s classes. He believes that “Children should have fun in class. That is how they will learn a lifelong love of exercise”. He focuses not only on technique, but on behavior and life skills which are all part of the development of the next generation of athletes.
