Jeff Presley has been teaching our popular submission wrestling takedown classes since 2004. Jeff is a Jiu-Jitsu Purple belt with extensive experience wrestling in College & Freestyle as well as Greco Roman. For example, he pinned everyone he faced in his Zone (includes TN, KY, AR, MS, AL) 2 years in a row, which earned him 2 AAU Zone Championships. Jeff went on in 1982 to place 6th and 3rd, respectively, in the Freestyle & Greco Roman Nationals.
Jeff volunteered as assistant coach at CBHS, coaching many state champs & teams that placed 3rd & 2nd in the state 1984 & 1985.
He accepted a wrestling scholarship for the University of Tennessee at Knoxville under 2 time Olympian Grey Simons. UT was ranked 8th in the country during the 1985 season beating Penn State and Iowa State ranked 3rd & 4th. Jeff was asked by Coach Simons to help coach at UT's summer wrestling camps.
Jeff has been sought after as a coach. In 1994 while working full-time for his growing business (CDS & Deluge Studios-Web Development), Jeff was asked to coach at Briercrest High School in Memphis for 5 years, developing a 2 time state champ. Jeff has been asked to be the head wrestling coach at local schools.
In 2003 Jeff earned his master's degree in Operations Mgmt. He is a very talented instructor and communicator and has a true gift at teaching the details & technical aspects that make all the difference.
Jeff was first introduced to Submission Wrestling and other martial arts while in high school. "Catch Wrestling" legend Billy Wicks attended Jeff's matches becoming a friend & father figure. Mr. Wicks showed Jeff his favorite techniques. Jeff eventually received his Catch Wrestling "black belt" certificate from Mr. Wicks.
Jeff loves to instruct our popular submission wrestling takedown class. In 2003, Memphis Judo & Jiu-Jitsu moved into Memphis Martial Arts Center, where Jeff was taking Kempo. Jeff then began studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Submission wrestling. (Even though plagued by major injuries), Jeff still has a love for wrestling & submission wrestling. He is a also a frequent judge for MMA fights.
We recognize that takedowns are vital for BJJ, Submission Wrestling and MMA training, so we've asked Jeff to provide instruction on takedowns.
