Robin, our Filipino Martial Arts instructor, was first introduced to the martial arts via Karate in 1965 but stopped training after a short while to pursue other sports. This lifelong athlete came back to the martial arts in 1976 at which time he began studying Kajukembo. Again Robin stopped training to concentrate on academics which helped earn him a 4 year academic scholarship as well as 2 Bachelor Degrees, one in Business Management and the other in Recreation Management..all the while being a 4 year starter on the football team.
In 1992 Robin was finally introduced to legendary Filipino Martial Arts instructor Sifu Steven Fristoe. Robin stuck with, learned everything he could about, trained and competed in Kali and Escrima under Sifu Fristoe with a fervent passion. Robin has had the great opportunity to train with some of the Filipino Martial Arts most legendary instructors such as Bruce Lee trained Guru Dan Inosanto and the full contact stick fighting Dog Brothers' founder Crafty Dog.
As a competitor Robin was the Escrima Classic Lightweight Single Stick Champion and the Lightweight Double Stick runner-up.
Robin, considered a modern progressive martial artist, integrates the FMA's weapons training with full contact sparring and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He believes that students learn reality self-defense techniques and weapons defenses most effectively and efficiently by pairing them with real time applications.
